With more than 27,000 Instagram followers, a new book published at the end of 2014 and more than 30 years spent backstage at the most prestigious fashion shows in the world: Guido Palau, British hair artist, has most certainly earned his place in the hall of the greatest hair stylists of our time.
Promising beginnings
The hairstylist, who most call by his first name only, made his start in the salons of Vidal Sassoon. A young visionary, he soon tired of work within the confines of the hair salon and during the filming of the George Michael clip “Freedom! ‘90” gets noticed for the first time. The top models Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford would then go on to entrust their hairstyles into Guido’s expert hands, and his atypical and futuristic style quickly earned him the recognition of the greatest hairstylists. From there, he would go on to work for Calvin Klein, Versace and Lanvin, who fought eagerly for him.

The new hair bible
Guido, who is inspired by the work of Alexander McQueen, published his second book in September. Entitled Hair, stylists and art connaisseurs alike will discover within 70 avant-gardist looks conceived by its author and shot by the famous photographer David Sims. Beauty looks that stand out with clean staging, almost non-existent make-up, and bold cuts. Despite 30 years in the business, Guido Palau, who has not acquired one wrinkle or grey hair, remains at the top of the list of the most influential hairstylists on the planet.
